Construction & Trades Finance — illustrative industry scene

Tools down means money lost.

In the trades the work doesn't wait, the ute dies, a job needs an excavator next week, or you've won a contract that needs gear you don't yet own. X Lend is a finance broker: we compare a panel of 80+ banks and nonbank lenders and arrange the finance so you keep building instead of chasing approvals.

Lenders assess trade income differently. Whether you're a sole trader sparky after a new van or a building company kitting out a site, we match your situation, including low doc and alternative-document options, to a lender comfortable with how trades actually earn: lumpy, project based and busy.

From a single tool purchase to a full fleet and plant upgrade, we structure the finance around your cashflow and tax position (chattel mortgage, hire purchase or rental) and coordinate the application with the lender. You stay on the tools; we handle the paperwork.

What builders and trades finance with us.

Most site and vehicle costs can be financed, freeing your cash for materials and wages. The common ones:

The right finance should support the work ahead. Compare what it makes possible with the cost and commitment of borrowing.

What finance can help with

  • Put the right gear to work

Access vehicles and equipment for new contracts, replacements or a growing workload.

  • Keep cash available for the job

Spread an eligible purchase over time while keeping a buffer for wages, materials and operating costs.

  • Reduce avoidable downtime

Replace unreliable assets when the cost of repairs and lost working time starts adding up.

What to weigh up

  • Look beyond the repayment

Compare interest, fees and any final balloon payment alongside the total amount you will repay.

  • Allow for quieter periods

Repayments continue when work slows or customers pay late. Check the commitment against your cashflow.

  • Compare buying now with waiting

Weigh repair costs and missed work against the cost of finance. Paying cash also reduces your available buffer.

Price the whole job, not just the asset.

What to prepare for your finance discussion

For a trade vehicle or machine, separate the purchase from racking, attachments, delivery, insurance and running costs. Then compare the repayment with the work already booked and the timing of progress payments. A busy pipeline does not necessarily mean cash is available on the repayment date.

  • Supplier quote with fit-out and attachments itemised
  • Current jobs, payment milestones and expected collection dates
  • Recent business statements and existing finance commitments

Ask a broker
Are you a lender or a broker?

We're a finance broker: we compare a panel of 80+ banks and nonbank lenders and arrange the finance with the one that best fits your trade business.

Can I finance gear with just an ABN?

Often, yes. Established ABNs can frequently access low doc finance for vehicles and equipment without full financials. We match you to lenders comfortable with your trading history.

I've just won a big contract but don't have the gear, can you move fast?

That's exactly what we do. Decision and settlement timing depend on the lender, complete documents and any required asset checks. Your broker confirms the expected steps before you commit.

Can I finance used equipment or a private sale ute?

Yes. We arrange finance for used and private sale vehicles and equipment, handling the checks so the deal settles cleanly.

Will an enquiry affect my credit?

Getting an indicative quote doesn't touch your credit file. A formal application involves a credit check, but we only lodge once you're happy to proceed.
